Egypt Field has a newly elected president

After much prayer and consideration, on August 24th, 2025, the Executive Committee of the Middle East and North Africa Union (MENAU) voted pastor Seon Hwan Kim as President of Egypt Field. Pastor Kim replaces pastor Denis Sand, who has been called to serve as President of MENAU during the 2025 GC Session.

Pastor Seon Hwan Kim, the newly elected President for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Egypt, is an accomplished church leader, with vast experience in mission work in challenging territories. Coming from the Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD), also part of the “10/40 Window” region, Pastor Kim understands well what it means to live and serve as a religious minority.

For over 15 years of ministry, he has served as church administrator in several capacities. Policy writing, public affairs and religious liberty are some of his personal interests. In 2019, Pastor Kim was directly involved in the ground-breaking legal victory of Han Ji Man, a young Seventh-day Adventist medical student in Korea, who requested the country’s Supreme Court for the right to take university exams outside of Sabbath hours.

Pastor Kim is originally from South Korea, along with his wife, Sook Ja Park, who also has theological training and a robust career in the areas of mentorship, family development and mission-centered education. They have two adult married sons.

Let us pray: Dear Father, as You enable those You call, please, bless Pr. Kim as he steps into guiding our Church in Egypt. Give him wisdom, peace, and strength to lead your people.
