  • Middle East North Africa Union Annual Council Meetings Held in Lebanon

Highlights from the MENAU Annual Council, including executive meetings, strategic planning, inaugerating new ministry facilities, and a High Sabbath celebrating God’s work in the region.

The Middle East North Africa Union (MENAU) held its Annual Council meetings (previously entitled year-end meetings) in Beirut from November 16–21, gathering leaders from across the region along with guests from the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (GC). Among the visitors were Rick McEdward, GC Secretary; Leonard A. Johnson, GC Vice President; German Lust, Associate Treasurer; Chan Min Chung, GC Associate Secretary; and Petras Bahadur, Director of one of the GC Study Centers.

The week included two days of strategic planning focused on moving forward in an integrated, united way to bless the people of this region. Participants engaged deeply with a vision of mission rooted in collaboration, a shared vision for integrated efforts, and bathed in organized prayer support by people across the region. In addition, meetings included sessions with regional officers and two days of meetings with the executive committee where the president and other officers and MENAU department directors shared their yearly reports.

Two significant milestones were celebrated during the week. The first was the inauguration of the new building for the Adventist Learning Center in Bourj Hammoud, marked by an open house filled with music, abundant treats, and powerful testimonies from current and past students whose lives have been changed by the school. The second was the official opening of the community center in Achrafieh, previously known as Arise Beirut, under its new name, Sharraftouna.

The week concluded with a High Sabbath in a filled-to-overflowing Sharraftouna. MENAU President Denis Sand delivered an inspiring and challenging sermon titled “Go Forward!” based on Exodus 14. The ordination of the first local pastor in his country was a powerful moment for all present. His story—discovering Jesus, growing as a committed disciple, and stepping forward to serve his own people—deeply moved everyone.

The Sabbath celebration ended with a vibrant festival of music and inspiring testimonies showcasing God’s work in some of the region’s most challenging areas.

Let Us Pray: We thank you for the privilege of working to fulfill your purposes in MENA and around the world. We dedicate ourselves to giving all to follow you and praise you for your leading, guiding, and provision.
