Just a few kilometers apart, two Adventist schools in Lebanon closed out the year very differently — one with a joyful graduation, the other forced to postpone graduation due to safety concerns. Here's how both are holding onto hope.

Just a few kilometers apart, Adventist School Bouchrieh (ASB) and Adventist School Mousaitbeh (ASM) share the same mission: to provide Christ-centered, quality education that nurtures the whole person. Yet each school serves a distinct community with its own history, culture, and challenges. While their journeys often differ, both schools remain united by a common purpose—to bring hope, stability, and excellence to young people, especially during difficult times.
Adventist School Bouchrieh serves families from the greater Beirut and Metn areas, bringing together students from diverse religious, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Adventist School Mousaitbeh, located in the heart of Beirut, has long been known for serving a vibrant urban community, welcoming students from many nationalities and providing educational opportunities to families who often face significant economic and social challenges. Together, these schools reflect the diversity of Lebanon while demonstrating the inclusive spirit of Adventist education.
Throughout Lebanon's many seasons of uncertainty, both schools have remained faithful to their calling. Whether facing economic hardship, the COVID-19 pandemic, or periods of armed conflict, they have continued to provide a safe place for learning, encouragement, and spiritual growth. Teachers have done far more than teach lessons; they have become mentors, counselors, and sources of hope for students and families navigating uncertain days. Their work reflects the promise found in Isaiah 40:31: "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles."
The past academic year once again tested the resilience of both school communities. Escalating security concerns required frequent adjustments to schedules, temporary shifts to remote learning, and constant communication with families. Despite these disruptions, students demonstrated remarkable perseverance, supported by dedicated educators who remained committed to ensuring that learning continued without losing sight of each child's emotional and spiritual well-being. In moments of uncertainty, the words of Romans 12:12 became especially meaningful: "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer."
For Adventist School Bouchrieh, the year concluded with a joyful graduation ceremony that celebrated not only academic achievement but also resilience. Families gathered with gratitude to honor the accomplishments of the graduating class after a year filled with challenges. The guest speaker reminded graduates that true success is measured not only by knowledge or accomplishments, but by character, integrity, faith, and a willingness to serve others. The ceremony became a celebration of hope—a testimony that even in difficult times, God's faithfulness continues to guide His children toward a promising future.
At Adventist School Mousaitbeh, however, the continuing security crisis made a different decision necessary. Out of concern for the safety of students, families, and staff, the school postponed its graduation ceremony. While disappointing, the decision reflected the school's unwavering commitment to protecting its community. Students, parents, and teachers have continued to look forward with hope, trusting that the opportunity to celebrate this important milestone will come when circumstances allow. Until then, the achievements of the graduates remain no less significant, and the community continues to stand together in patience, faith, and mutual encouragement. As Galatians 6:9 reminds us, "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
Though their stories unfolded differently this year, both Adventist School Bouchrieh and Adventist School Mousaitbeh offer the same enduring witness: education is far more than classrooms and ceremonies. It is about building resilient young people who carry hope into the future. In times of peace and in times of uncertainty, these two schools continue to fulfill their mission—serving their communities with compassion, excellence, and an unwavering faith that brighter days lie ahead.
Their shared journey is perhaps best captured by the words of Joshua 1:9: "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." This promise continues to inspire the students, teachers, and families of both schools as they move forward together, confident that God remains faithfully present in every season.
